Default forward controls

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger... Finally. Anyway, I was pretty dead-set on getting a standard 883, but went to a demo day this weekend and road a 883C and really enjoyed the forward controls. I also road an 883L and felt really cramped. They didn't have a standard 883 for me to try, which makes me second guess myself even more.

Anyway, has anyone installed forward controls on the "new" (04-06) standard 883? How much is a forward control kit? How was the the install, it doesn't look like it would be too bad at all.

Or should I just say it's well worth the extra 1,000 (in round numbers) for the "C"??? I'm torn... not BS looks versus the more laid back style.

Thanks for the help!

Put 'em on my 04 883 when I had it. Very easy install. I think they ran around $350-$400.

It depends. I'm looking at the kit for my wife's 883 low and the polished runs around $250 and the chrome is around $350. Is it really easy enough for a novice like myself to install? That would save about $130 labor.

Very easy to install. Just folllow the directions. You can sell the mid controls on ebay if you want to recoup some of the cost of the forwards. Biggest pain in the azz is getting the mids off. And be sure to use blue locktite when you install the forwards.

Good luck.
