I have seen pictures and videos of people that buy a seperate small filter and attach it to their crank case air tube as opposed to having the crank case tube get its air from the intake. I have taken my intake off and cant seem to fine where the crank case is getting its air. Has anyone done this before or can someone explain how this is done?
what do you mean you cant find where the crank case is getting its air? if you took the intake plate off, it should just be an open hose that connects to the intake plate. i blocked my intake plate off, routed the hose under the front of the motor, and put a little breather on the end... problem solved.
There are two tubes, one on each head, that go into the back of the air cleaner. You'll probably need to take off the backing plate to get a good look at 'em.

Ok that makes sense... i will try that when i get home, will i need to go buy hoses? probably yeah. do you know how difficult it is to take that backing plate off?

it doesn't even measure on the difficulty scale, it's removing a few bolts

ok i took my intake off again and i see that there are two screws that hold the intake plate onto the engine, are those two big screws the tubes for the crank case? if so how exactly do i attace a hose to both of them and attach a filter.... its difficult to understand
what year is your bike? mine is a 90, and i have 1 tube that comes from the front, right side of the engine right next to the front cylinder, and goes directly into the back of my intake plate. its now blocked off in the intake place (brass plug), and the tube is routed in front of the motor and down towards the ground.

my bike is an 09, could someone please post a pic about this topic because the two big bolts i am talking about i am not sure if they are even the crank case bolts because the mount to the engine... if someone could post a pic and a discription that would help alot
i am having a problem with my crankcase breather tube i hav it hanging down pointed at the ground away from my rear tire and every time i park it i get about a quarter size oil spot on the ground and its definetly coming from the breather. but odly enough my oil levels are perfectly fine. been doing this for months. and on longer highway rides i have to ride in the back cause my buddy's will get small oil specks on there bikes if im in front.
