Just got my new HD super sport windshield, which I got used on e-bay. Put it on and ran to town. I freaking love it. While I don't think windshields make bikes look cool, it makes an amazing amount of difference on the road. Going 70 with it feels like going 45 without it. Not to mention... I didn't get smoked in the face by one single bug today!
It is detachable so I will probably take it off for events or crusing around town, but for the highway, and country roads... I love it!
I haven't had a bike without a windshield for years and will probably always have one. Once you're spoiled it's hard to go back. I find I'm the same way with saddle bags. Not having bags would be like not having pockets in my pants.
Never had a windshield on my bikes yet but the more I hear about them the better they sound.Although I rarley go over about 65 or 70 anyway.Mostly I rdie to work and back which is about 15 miles each way and no speed limit over 55 on the ride.
But yeah you have me thinking now.......lol
I put one on my Sporty and haven't taken it off since, seems to spoil you. I don't think they look cool but they function and at my age that's what matters nowadays. I especially like it on the highway cause you don't feel like the wind is trying to push you off the seat, makes for a more relaxed ride in my opinion. Mines on to stay!!!!
here are some quick pics... It was sprinkling outside, and I didn't feel like cleaning water spots off of her just to try to get a good pic, I just snapped some in the car port.
The second one shows a decal I picked up on e-bay which I think really makes the windshield look good. From the angle of the picture it looks off centered, but I assure you the decal is perfectly centered.
Thanks for the pictures. I'm trying to decide on what windshield to get for my bike. I want to keep it stripped and sporty looking, but I ride the freeway to work every day at 70+mph so a a windshield of some type would sure help a lot. I'm also considering putting a cafe type faring on it.
If you spring for the HD quick detachable you can have it both ways. The windshield goes on and off in perhaps 5 seconds. Put it on to go to work. Take it off to cruise.
I'm a new rider and when I bought my 1200 C I had them put on a detatchable windshield because the other guys at work talked about how much they liked theirs after getting one.
Last night was the first time I put the windshield on my 04 roadster. You are right it does give the bike a different look. But I keeps the bugs and some wind off of you. It helps with the ton of bugs alot especally when you are riding the county roads with cow farms on both sides of you. I clocked 165 miles. It also helped with the rain that I ran in to.
