I am currently stuck on which bike i should get an 883 or 1200. Right now i have a 08 ninja and love the power but hate the riding position, it feels like someone has beaten me over the back with a baseball bat after 100+ miles. I dont know whether an 883 is enough power. Im not looking to go the speeds like i can on my sport bike, but something that is comfortable to ride. I was hoping some of you guys could help me out. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
Dude I use to ride sportbikes (zx-6r zx-10r etc.) I traded my 6r in for an Iron 883. You'll hate the transition, The bike looks killer and bada$$ but it is wayyy to underpowered for your past riding experiences. I now have a Nightster so take it from me, who had sportbikes and now has had both these bikes, you'll be happier with the 1200 cause its closer to your power liking. Believe it or not a Nightster will hang with any 600 up until 120 or so, I've tested that out with my sportbike bros!!!
You got anymore questions just let me know and ill help you out since I came from the exact boat your in
I mean dont get me wrong I loved my Iron 883 but you better really wanna slow cruise and parkin lot pimp it cause besides that, you wont like it. When I had mine I had to sport the hell out of it and look bada$$ just cruisin slow cause thats all it really has
Hey thanks alot guys. Chances are i'll ride both the bikes. Although im not sure I will be getting a new one. Does the rubber mounts really make a huge difference in these bikes. If so then I will have to take my eye off the 1998 1200, becoz i want something to cruze on without being rattled apart.
I aint goin to lie, rubber mounts rattle the hell out of these bikes....I thought they would be smooth but the engine is a vibratin son of a B, especially compared to sportbikes smoothness
Well either way it sounds like the money my parents spent when i was 12 for braces was a waste. If these bikes are anything like the old yamaha virago i used to ride, it will be alright.
