The (fairly new) HD AGM batteries are hard to beat. I try and stay away from the cheaper alternatives that have hollow terminal posts. Many people know of the problems that are caused by loose battery cables, but you can see below what happens if you tighten down the battery cables a little too snug on a hollow post battery.
I bought a Drag Specialties battery for my Sporty when the original took a crap and it has worked fine for several years so far.
And I didn't over tighten my cables.
I bought one from this place called Batteries Plus, I don't know if there national but I have seen them all over. Cost me 60 bucks and does have the hollow terminals but I have had no problems. Charley I think you got a bad battery..or you don't know your own strength damn!!!
