Electrical Frustration!
Just had the 15,000 mile service done when a big rainstrom hit. The speedo quit (turns out it was corroded fuses, according to my dealer service tech). Then it started turning over in fits and starts. Then I go out at 9:00PM to start it up and all I get is clicks.
I get up early, take the cage down to the Harley shop, plunk down a hunsky out of my Christmas money for a new battery.
Replaced the battery and noticed a strange click, click, click, clicketyclicketyclickety sound coming from the air cleaner with the run switch and the key off.
Next morning, new batt is too weak to turn the engine over. Another jump, took it in to the Harley shop, and, skipping to the bottom line, was told the noise (clearly electrical and a drain on the battery) was my fuel pump and it was normal for the fuel pump to run with the key off!
That was yesterday, Merry Christmas to all, but my batt ran down again over night (I know, I know, shoulda pulled the fuse, but the dealer said.....).
I hooked it up to my jump box and pulled the fp fuse. Guess what? The sound's still there.
Anyone have a tip for what that sound might be and how to stop it?
Cheers,
