I don't know why my pictures are no longer appearing. My albums are still here, but when I click on a thumbnail I get an "Invalid Link" message. I have contacted the administrator to see if this can be corrected and the pictures restored. If you go to my albums you can still see the thumbnails, but the full size pictures will not come up.
Rasaine, thanks for the pictures and pointers on doing the mod. I bought the 22" and thought I'd just go with the Slipstream mount for awhile to see how it worked out. Plus, I thought it wouldn't be too much to swap to the quick release. I totally misunderstood the bracket cost. I checked out the part # and saw they were $30. I took that amount to be all it would cost. I bid on a couple of used but like new HD with the QR on eBay but set my max based on the new windshield and bracket cost which wasn't enough to win. I then decided to order the bracket and was rudely confronted with the fact I needed 4 bracket at $30 each.
Anyway, did the mod and really like it. It is real convenient with the quick release. Thanks again for the pointers.
I am happy this thread has helped some folks out. I appreciate the nice positive responses.
Yes, the Harley clamps are EXPENSIVE, but what genuine Harley accessory isn't? I love having the Quick release on mine. I like my bike better without the windshield, but really appreciate the shield in the cold or on long highway trips. I leave mine off now much more than I would if I did not have the quick release. In my opinion, worth the cost.
Thanks for the pics and windshield info! Can you please tell me about your 2-up seat, bitch bar and backrest arrangement? I like the looks of yours. Is it comfortable for long trips? Factory or custom? I'm curious if it would fit on my 2006 XL-1200L?
Hey lowrider, Glad you like the looks of my setup. I have found it all to be very comfortable. Longest ride I have been on so far is 250 miles. No problems. I stop about every hour to stretch and relax (I'm 62 and not as nimble as I used to be ). My wife has found the setup very comfortable as well, but she does not ride on long trips with me. About 45 minutes is best so far. All the setup is stock Harley accessories. You will need to check in the Harley parts catalogue for fitment to your '06 model, but they are all available for yours. Seat is Sundowner deep bucket. Sissy bar is Medallion, tall with rigid mounting plates. Pad is tall pillow look.
