Red face Hello, and a few basic questions...

Hello everybody XxMr.DILLIGAFxX from Newport News Va here. I just brought my first bike, a 09 883L. I just passed the MSF class and figured I would spend the cold months doing a bunch of "Parking Lot training" that way come spring/summer I should feel good to go.
Just wanted to introduce myself and ask a basic cosmetic question. I am trying to get the front reflectors off, I know this was discussed before and that it involves floss and goo-gone but could I please get a little further help and any advice for a first time Sporty rider??? Thanks everyone and take care!!

Take the dental floss and work it in between the reflector and metal. Work it back and forth in a sawing action as you move down the reflector. Once off, use the googone to clean up the remaining adhesive. Once you get a port of the reflector detached, you may be able to just use your fingers and gently pry it off.

It helps to gently heat the flecters up a bit to soften the glue (it really isnt glue, it's like a double sided 3M tape). A hair dryer will do. In the summer you can just park the bike in the sun, wait an hour and pull the rear ones right off! WD-40 will work well too for removing any left over gunk. What ever you use to get to left over glue off just remember to wash and re-wax the area.

Run a heat gun over them a bit then pull em off slowly...use more/less heat as needed...if done right all the backing will come with it....use some spray 9/wd 40 what ever you want and your finger nail to scrape the rest of the glue off....same process for the rear fender reflectors

You shouldn't use a flat head screw driver to pry them off either...

As stated above, it is easy to remove the reflectors. Just follow the instructions above. I used Goo-Gone also.

BTW, an '883L can be a good starting point for your own mods. I did some "stuff" to mine. And it does get a good amount of attention where ever I go.
