I'll apologize straight away and say that I know there have been many helmet posts put up. I've searched and the number of posts that come up when you do a search for HD Helmets is a bit....much.
Everyone is always talking about HJC...Shoei...Arai as being great helmets, which I'm well aware of, but they are also a bit pricey. What I don't ever hear people talk about are harley's full face helmets. They have the classic for $150 and the modular for $250 and was just wondering if anyone had any experience with either/both?
The price on either helmet isn't bad, and I'm more than happy with a simple black paint scheme, but HD being HD....they tend to think alot of anything that has their name on it. Knowing that, it makes me wonder if there are not better alternatives for the same price or less.
I have a Sparx FF, HJC 3/4, and a HD 1/2. I probably like the HJC the best of the bunch. Sparx are priced pretty low and are OK for the price. You can find a good deal on HJC's on ebay. I picked up mine for $50 new.
I don't recall who makes HD's helmets. It may be HJC or AFX.
If you are serious about a modular, then check-out the Shark Evoline. It's probably the slickest modular out now, but it's not cheap.
I have a HD full face, it's not modular, it is black with orange and silver HD graphics that are highly reflective at night. It has a built in sunshade that you can slide down and it retracts. It's a great helmet, although a little overdone on the HD badging. My other helmets are Fulmer, and were a better value. I didn't buy the HD, it was a birthday gift. It's too over-the-top on the graphics side for me, I buy neutral helmets so I can wear them with my VTX also. But it's a nice helmet, and I really like the built in sun glasses. Works great with my prescription glasses, no more changing out to shades when wearing it.

I found the HJC Sy-Max II (modular) in black for $244 at the Helmet Center in Arizona. Best price I've seen anywhere. http://www.thehelmetcenter.com/HJC-S...k-p-20072.html Once you put the helmet in the check out cart the price goes down from $251. It kinda depends on the shape of your head but after trying on MANY modulars this one was the most comfortable.
I have the HD Stealth modular and like it for the most part, solid construction and snug fitting, and yes it is noisy at higher speeds. I did get a fulmer 3/4 though and have been riding with it for about 10 months and like the way it feels and fits a lot better.
