I was kind of surprised when I saw the reversed mirrors on the 48. I always liked the look but was thinking that maybe it it wasn't the greatest for actually using the mirrors from a sefety standpoint. If they are putting them on a stock bike maybe there isn't a real safety issue. Now I rethinking doing my mirrors.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has reversed their mirrors about whether it is less or more functional. I guess I should start a separate thread.

I reversed my mirrors on my Nightster when I had it...Great mod, I was no longer looking at my shoulders....Yeah the 48 is a great looking scooter...If I had extra money I would consider picking one up and modify the hell out of it...I do, however, love my FXDC and need the money to change it around to my liking....

spoke to my parts guy today... he said the 48 should be showing up at dealers beginning in april. the plan is for 2 48's per dealer initially, so don't expect any parts to be available specific to that model for a long while.

anyone know of a source for aftermarket black rim laced 16" front wheels? DNA phone rep sez they don't offer them yet.

I was at the show on Saturday and sat on that bike. It was all good except for that small tank. But I think if it was available 2 yrs ago I would have got that one instead of the nightster. I do want that seat and a rear fender without the ECM hole.

You sound just like me a few years ago. I rode sport bikes all my life and pretty much had the same taste in bikes as you. The Sportster lured me into Harley ownership in the same way. Now I have a Sportster and an Electraglide. Lately though I've been getting the itch for a sportbike again and with the deals I'm seeing on Buells it's becoming more like a rash. It's a sickness really, be careful!

seriously who cares what they say with the whole girls bike crap... if you like it then fu#$ what anyone else has to say. i also have done the mirror "mod" and it is wayyyy more functional than at stock position, atleast on my iron. no more shoulder inspecting.

I like the looks of the new 48. I will try one this year when the test ride team comes to town (July sometime). Great looking. Love the sporty look and ride. Even 2 up. I hope they have one at the show next week.

The Sportster is the bellwether of the Harley line. The recent model updates indicate that Harley understands. I think they dropped the xl from the line because it was embarrassing to have your best looking, best sounding, best running model at the bottom of your price list. As for aspersions cast at the Sporty, envy can be an ugly thing.

Keep your eye on the Sportster market. As it goes, so goes Harley's future.
