Default build your own jack

Has anyone here built their own jack or lift? I have some good metal in the scap pile and was thinking of building my own jack. I was not going to build a scissor type but rather something similar to a dual wheel dolly as used on big trucks. I would use a long travel hydraulic jack from Northern Tool for the lifting mechanism. What do y'all think?

count your cost. for $100 you can buy a jack from harbor freight. by the time you buy a hydrolic jack and weld it together, you might be better off to just buy one. but on the plus side, you can put your pads anywhere you want.

For a hundred bucks you can buy one from Sears. Unless you just like building ****. If you do then I would just copy a design.

I use a front wheel locking stand that I picked up from Harbor Freight for cheap and then took the emergency scrissor jack out of my car to jack the bike up with. It works just fine when I'm all by myself in the garage. The front wheel stand keeps it stable and I just jack it right up.
