Default thinking about upgrading???

Well i have only had the sportster about 4 months. I love it. but im thinking about getting bigger bike. This thinking started after i took my dads 00 softail out for a little cruise this weekened. It felt perfect. I didnt want to get off. Now im 6' tall and 200lbs. I put highway pegs on the sporty and that made a huge difference. But i still kind of feel uncomfortable. I was thinking of maybe a different seat. I just dont know what to do because i have always loved the sportster more than the bigtwins but i think they fit me better. Just wondering if anyone else has ran into the same problem.

That was my fear when I was bike shopping. I ruled out the Sportster for the SuperGlide. Dosen't matter...I still see other bikes I'd like to own!

Got the same problem man. I'm 6'1" 210. I'm trading for either a softail or one of the less dressed Touring bikes in March. Love the Sporty, but too small for me, and the longer trips are killer. My butt has been numb since April 1st (when I bought my bike) Already put over 5000 miles on the bike in less than 4 months

Apparently I'm just the opposite from most.

I've owned nothing but Big Twins since 1972, but since getting my 2005 1200C a couple of months ago I've been riding it more than my Dyna WideGlide.

I'm 6'2, about 190 LBS, and the Sportster is a great fit.. The only thing I didn't care for was the short wheelbase on the 1200C and the choppy ride it produced. I solved that problem by installing a heavier 41mm WideGlide front end with 8" extended tubes. This improved the long range cruising comfort 100%.

Actually, the 1200C is now "bigger" than my WideGlide.. Wheelbase is currently 70", while the stock 1200C wheelbase is 60.3", and the wheelbase on the WideGlide is 65".

I don't know. I have the modified 1200C, a Dyna WideGlide, and a Road King, and I get the most enjoyment (by far) from the Sportster.

I'm 5'11" 180lbs and the Sportster 1200C fits me like a glove too. When I was bike shopping, I tested out both the Dyna's and Softail Deuce and Fatboy. I liked the Dyna's but something didnt feel right to me on them. The Deuce felt more comfortable but it seemed too long to be nimble. Although I love the Fatboy, the riding position just wasn't for me. I was really torn between the Deuce and the 1200C. I was able to afford either bike so money wasnt an issue but something keep bring me back to the Sportster. I've always liked them since I was kid so maybe that was my desire, I don't know for sure. Despite the smaller engine, I felt the 1200C was the best deal out there and extremely comfortable for me. I will admit, the stock seat isn't the greatest, but I was able to live with it. I changed it for a nicer and more comfortable solo seat. A slight adjustment to pull my bars back was all I needed and the bike just felt so good under me; The best fiiting bike I have been on in my own opinion. However, if my legs were any longer, I feel the forward controls would not be forward enough. Hopefully, I won't grow. lol. The only other thing I want to comment on is the ride quality. I know a lot of people complain about Sporties vibrating or being chopp; My bike is smooth as can be. It seems like the more miles I put on it, the smoother it gets. For regular city driving, I do not have a problem. When Im on the highway and I am in the 65 to 70mph zone, that's when it gets interesting, but not unbearable unless it's a really windy day.

No matter what bike you have there will always be another bike or bikes that you think you want more. It's just part of the motorcycle disease. I have owned four different bikes this year alone, but my current bike is my first Harley. I would suggest you go to a dealer that has rentals available. Pay for a day of rentals and ride everything they have. They will allow you to ride any bike available within that 24 hour period. Good luck with whatever you decide.
