I bought my 48 on 1 April. My dealer told me every dealer was supposed to have one 48 by the first week in April...I guess that's not the case.
This is my first bike and the small fuel tank is kind of annoying. Also, the 48 isn't covered in the 2010 sportster owners manual and my dealer didn't have a manual for the 48.
Elaborate on "fuel tank is kind of annoying". My disclaimer: I'm tired of all the posts/opinions that the bike can't go anywhere because it only carries 2 gallons......which is why I'd like to hear more about this before I say anything else....
As far as the manual goes- the 48 isn't that much different than any other sportster, besides cosmetics- you should be good with a 2010 general manual.

The 48 has a 2.1 gallon tank. The low fuel light comes on after about 50 miles. Right now, I fill up about every 65 miles. I could probably push it to 80 but I haven't tried. It would be nice to have another gallon.
Mike's Famous, of Groton, CT has two coming in w/in the next week - two weeks. Or so I am told. I was there tuesday and finally saw a 48. They hadn't wheeled it off the delivery truck and it was sold.

thanks for elaborating. Some advice from a fellow 2 gal tank owner : keep close track of your mileage. Simple calc every time you fill up. Divide miles by amount of gas put in to tank. If you do this every time, you'll not only be able to be more confident in the distance you can go, but you will notice really quickly if you were to have a problem (sudden drop in mileage=potential problem).
Now go get used to that bike, ride the wheels off and love the hell out of it!
If anyone in the central NJ area is looking for a 48 model, I just came from Barb's HD in Collingswood, NJ and they now have 2 on there sales floor. One with Silver tins and the other with Orange. Just an FYI for anyone looking.
