First off, I tried searching the forum, but couldn't find another post resembling my problem, so I decided to post a new thread.
Here's a little about the bike:
2010 1200C with 2200 miles (1k checkup at 1k)
Vance and Hines HS Slipons Straightshots
Heavy Breather Intake
Fuelpak with "stock" settings for above hardware
I've noticed an odd squeak from what sounds like the front of my bike when I back off the throttle. It's somewhat high-pitched, and is relieved when I lay back on the throttle. I noticed it doesn't occur while idling in neutral, and only occurs while moving. I was thinking it could be something with the front axle or brake pads, but the fact that it gets significantly louder when laying off the throttle makes me believe it's somewhere else. Maybe something with the primary chain?
I pulled the plugs, and they look appropriate. Fluids seem to be at the correct level as well. I'll be doing an oil change this afternoon when I get home from the dealer.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If this is something I can do myself, I'm definitely doing so. It's 2 hours to the nearest dealer, and of course there's that pesky "We found this list of things" at $75/hr labor.
Will do Stefan. I noticed a not-so-tight seal on my breather today, and fixed that... still have the squeak though. I noticed today that the bike pulls a little weird too. At first I thought it was just frost heaves, but now I think it it's something different.
I honestly can't tell if it's something that's happening constantly or just as I decel/lay off the gas. My pipes are pretty loud, which probably doesn't help.
Could it possibly be a front wheel bearing? That was my father's suggestion... which in my mind would explain the tugging feeling while riding, as the bike would be pushing against the bad bearing, as well as the squeak. Any suggestions here?
I went to the dealer, who assured me they couldn't hear anything squeaking. They said that sometimes sand would drive itself between the brake pads/rotors and cause squeaking. I'm not sure if I buy this. It still sounds squeaky to me... and I'm not sure it's the brake.
I'm gonna have a buddy ride it to see what they think.
