Nightster handling...
If there's already a thread on this, apologies - couldn't find it so can someone point me the right way?
Got me an 09 Nightster last year, just in time for the autumn rain and winter snows - d'uh... But, spring's springing so I'm out more. Great bike, but the front end always feels light and skittish. I've put progressive fork springs in and Avon Venom X's on, and there's a Superbrace in the mail, but coming from a Jap background (sorry...) I'd like a more solidly planted front boot so's I can ride and brake harder. I'm hoping some of you Sportster gurus here can help!
How do I get more weight over the front without spoiling the bike? And do I need to do anything else to let the front work with it? I'm considering:
1. New rear shox - would 1" longer lift the back and transfer more weight to the front? Or would this trash the handling?
2. Flatter bars to lean me forward a bit
3. Drop the yokes down the fork tubes maybe an inch to get more weight over the tyre
If it makes any difference I'm about 180 lbs.
Apologies if this has all been done before, and looking forward to hearing some tips from the vast experience on this forum!
