I feel your pain and fear. My wife is considering the same. I have been riding 39 years, and she thinks its so easy...and shes right, it is. The scary part is all the arseholes that don't care or pay attention to a biker or their own driving. She says if its her time... its her time. Sorry sweetie....theres alot more to it than that ! There are so many variables in getting in harms way. Am I paranoid ? dang straight I am !
For sure she should take MSF course. My wife took course wanted to quit after first night but I asked her not to. When she passed she was very happy. Then she saw the used Red 97 Honda Shadow I had bought for her. She rode the wheels off that thing following me every place I went, for about 1 year, then i gave her my 1999 Road King Classic that she has been riding for 6 years. She always wants to race me. After her first ride on the Road King she said this thing handles great why did you let me ride the Honda for so long. Women go figure? Teach her well, give her a chance, help her when she asks for it. She will be fine. She could be hurt or worse driving her car. Let her feel the freedom.
my main problem with her riding is me
i went down hard 26 yrs ago
i was laid up for over a yr
had friends do that and worse
couldnt deal with that happening to her

But she probably has the same feelings about you riding, would you give up riding for her even though you love her? It is a fear, I am a new Harley rider, I am very honest about my fears and know every day I go ride it could be the day I die, not so much of my lack of experience but the dumb asses around me... but still love it. Support her and teach her....take it slow....
My wife started riding 2 yrs ago, and there is nothing better than riding next to, instead of with her. That's how I got my new bike, she wanted the other one.
All I can say is let her go for it and see if she likes it. The course is the only way to go as it keeps the heat off you trying to tell her what she should do. Women take criticism better when it's not coming from their spouse.
Mine got her endorsement via the course but after the first year she doesn't ride that much. I would go the route of an inexpensive 1rst scoot as you pretty much know it is going to get laid down.
Wifes been riding for about 5 yrs now . Started with a small Yamaha 650 she did great. She bought a low rider dose OK with it /. We picked up a Nightster and it fits her like a glove, she can handle it every were.( Back it up turn it around ) Gave her a lot more confidence . She Rides the Nightster around town and short trips and the Low for the overnighters ( Yea she has 2 bikes ) Just haven't figured it out witch is cheaper the Jewelry store or the Harley parts
Just let her ride.Your life will be much better. My wife does and while you may worry about her it actually makes a stronger bond between the two of you.
