Default How loud is it?

How noticible are the sounds that are made in the top end of your sporty? Can anyone else hear it over the exhaust/ wind? If so (assuming something isn't quite right) what was the fix?

Sporties make noise. Yes, I can hear the "sewing machine" sounds over the exhaust and wind. And others can hear it as well. Part of the joys of Sporty ownership. Coming from Japanese bikes it was quite shocking.

Compared to my old 1977 Ironhead Sportster, the Evo Sportsters top ends are pretty quite! Panhead top ends are pretty loud too!

I know that sound well and when I first got my sporty I called the dealer and asked about it. All my sport bikes have had the valve tick, but if they made half the top end nosie the sporty does they would have blown up LOL! My pipes are loud and I hear that top end nosie just as much or more unless I'm really on it.

The Evo top end makes all kinds of sounds. Seems to even change by the day - like mood swings. I consider it "charm"

Your right about that. Somedays my bike just has the top end tick and other days I check my oil agian just because it's so loud LOL! Then the heat shileds on mt new pipes are held on with little springs that wrap around the pipes and when you hit upper RPM's or the engine starts to lug they sing real loud-sounds like the bike is comming apart. All I have to say it i'm glad that I got a good deal on the pipes since they are not near worth retail price IMO.
