Default Most comforable bars

So I want to change my bars up from stock, but I also want to maintain some distance drivability. Im an average sized guy (5'11) so what is generally thought to be the most comfortable option? apes? drags? stock?....?

That question is waaaaayyyy subjective. You should do a sub search on this forum and I promise you'll learn a ton as to what worked for others and may work for you. It really depends on your own preference. I have two different styles and they are both great IMO.

I found the stock nightster bars to be the most comfortable for me. The spread and rise make for a good ride. They're not the best looking bars but at 57 with two bad shoulders I go for comfort every time. Kurt

What I did when I found my stock buckhorns to be less comfortable was to ask myself "what am I doing ergonomically that I don't want to do? Does my back hurt, my arms? what?" Then I sat on the bike and imagined where I wanted to put my hands and how I wanted to sit.
Then I repeatedly took measurements to see the dimensions of my ideal bars. You could even make a model with a coathanger. Once you figure out what you want, you can find bars for sale that will be very close.

I ended up with some mini apes from Jireh Cycles for like $36 that worked out great. I have kind of pulled them back toward me where they are on the same plane/parallel as the forks.

I like to sit upright. These people that recommend drag type bars seem crazy to me, but we're all different.

I'm 6' tall.

I'm 5'11 and put 14" apes made by drag specialties on my Nightster. I think it is way more comfortable than stock bars. it hurt by back being hunched over all the time, now I can sit more upright. You just have to find a trusting friend with apes, drag, buchorn bars and give them all a try. But good Luck with that

did you need to extend the wires/cables for the 14" apes?

Some people feel comfortable in a 3 piece suit, others feel comfortable in jeans. Some people prefer blondes, some like brunettes. Some people like vanilla, some prefer chocolate. Some like women, some like men. Some like cats, some would rather have a dog. Some people would only drive a BMW, others swear by their Honda Accord.......

Do I need to go on, and on?

Oh yea, in my ramblings, I forgot to answer your question. So here ya are. Some people prefer drag bars, some like stock bars, and still others say that apes are more comfortable. I hope I was able to help!
