posted this in the electrical thread, but thought i might double up. the bike wiring has been a pain in the **** since i got it. here is the newest development.
to cut to the long and short of it, all my rear lights, brake, tail, and blinkers are out along with my horn. my front three lights, head and two running/signal lights work, but flash. there is a clicking noise that accompanies the click that is coming from under the seat. This is a 1994 sportster. I have no idea were to look and i am tempted to re-wire the whole bike as it is a damned mess. the clicking and flashing is what really has me wondering. any help would be great. also, how hard is it to re-wire the whole bike? i assume they make wiring kits....
The clicking noise still makes me suspect the relays in the fuse box, have you removed and cleaned the contacts on the relay and the contacts in the fuse box that the relays push into?
I just went thru this recently after a handlebar changeout. My ACC circuit breaker was clicking under the seat (lights, horn, speedo, signals out) and ended up finding a pinched wire shorting-to-ground between the clutch-side switch housing and the clutch lever handlebar clamp bracket.
I loosened the handlebar clamp bolts enough that the pinch was relieved, adjusted the wiring a bit and made a small shim to place in between the bar and the clamp next to the wiring loom to relieve the pressure. Tighten to spec on top bolt first and then secure the lower bolt in the clutch lever mounting bracket.
