Forgive my ignorance....
Looking at some tire options for my Iron. Are there bigger tire options for the stock rims? If you get bigger rims what else do you need to change?
Just looking for some tire basic info since I know nothing.
Thanks
the largest you can prob go is 160/80/16 on your stock rim. If you go with an 18x4.25 rim, you'll need a 150/70/18...you might be able to get away with a 160/70/18, but not certain. The 18x4.25 rim will fit your iron though.

The largest tire you can run is limited by clearances between the belt, swingarm, brake caliper, and bolts under the fender.
A Dunlop 401 160/80-16 will not fit. However not all tires are created equal, and a Metzler ME880 or Avon Venom 160/80-16 will fit.
bumping this.... looking to see how big you can go on stock rims for front and rear tires on a nightster... would like something a little fatter and bobber looking up front, like the 48 has. obviously cant go that fat, but maybe one size up on each? a 160/80/16 out back and a 110/90/19 up front? anyone have larger sizes tires n stock rims?
I put a 17x4.5 on my rear....running a 160 Metz 880 on it now, when it comes time to change I will go 170.
As for the front, you can get away with a 110 but there will be NO room left, in fact you may have to bend the fender out a bit...
