Default Nightster won´t start...

I have recently bought a Nightster. Last night when I was going for ride it didn´t start. When I turned the ignition key all lights turned on and when I pushed the run button the fuel pump started. But when I pressed the start button nothing happened. You have any ideas what the problem might be? I´ve talked to the shop and they thought It might be the battery.

Thanks

Do you have the HD security with the fob?

Another thing, do the lights go off when you press the starter button?

It is most likely the battery. Don't know how long it was since you last rode but due to their size, bike batteries don't have that big of a reserve.

Also: I thought I read somewhere that harley's have a small current draw even when the bike is off. Anyone confirm this?

yes they do. it keeps the memory for the ecm and speedo info.

The lights does not react when I press the start button (no change). Only two days since I rode. Maybe I should check the battery in the fob too.

Thanks

If it was the battery the lights would dim or go out completely when you hit the starter button.

As for the current draw when the bike is off, the speedo keeps all the information even when the battery has been removed for two months, so it's not keeping that info. I don't know about the ecm. I know this because I have to store my bike in an unheated shed for the winter and don't want the battery to freeze so I remove it.

Ride Safe,

Art

Sorry, but no power is required to "keep" the memory for the speedo or ECM.
But, the security system does draw power unless it's disabled.
