Dealership probably does charge close to $100.00/hr. You might be able to find an independent shop near you who could do it for less. Depends if your financing is being paid to you or straight to the dealer. You could pay for the bike and use the rest for the mods. from an indy. shop
well I went and put my money down today and should be able to take it home on Monday! Very excited.
Now to figure out the stuff I want.
the fellow I talked to today explained why it cost so much to change pipes, basically he said its gotten ridiculous and it takes alot more to change them because of the EFI and the emissions crap they have to set up for at the factory, whether its all true, dunno, but Its the route I may have to go.
I dont think the peanut tank will fit with the stock speedo and riser, so that will have to wait, until I can figure out how I want to make those changes.
so Im thinking, the pipes, windsheild and maybe the bars.
Kal, hope you love whatever you buy. Julio posted the exact bike I bought my wife in 2008 (orange/blk 1200C) and now that she can't ride, I'm thinking of selling off my Street Glide and modding the sportie. Good luck. Trying to find a replacement tank for fuel injection is like trying to pull teeth with a chainsaw. I've been looking for a peanut tank for the 1200 too so I'm thinking of putting it up on ebay as a swap for someone looking to go the other way (may work?!?). Want to go with Big Radius, AME 14deg 8" OS and a tank lift but the frickin Custom speedo location gets in the way (so I'm gonna have to change that too.
Pipes and Fuelpak took me 4 hours on the Glide and the O2 sensors take 30 seconds to reconnect, so the dealer is bullshitting you big time. Can't be much different on the sportie.
