Has anyone here ever used a detachable mount (like Easy Brackets..Ghost Brackets..etc) with the rigid leather covered HD saddlebags (53050-04A)? I put these bags on my bike but I don't like the look for everyday cruising so I would like a way to remove them when I'm not doing extended travel. Thanks
I use the Easy Brackets with Willie & Max saddle bags and I love the quick on, quick off capability.
I can't remember if I had asked this before in another thread, but if you don't mind my asking, which Willie and Max bags did you put on the EasyBrackets? I'm pretty sold on getting the Easy Brackets for saddlebags, but now my biggest problem is figuring out which saddlebags to put on them.
Excellent. Thank you for the response. That's the style of their bags that I have preferred the most, I just wasn't sure if they were "rigid" enough to work well with the solid brackets. I'll have to order the brackets and the bags soon then. I don't know if it's a "fools errand" or not, but I'm trying to set up the bike so that, when I'm just out for a ride, I can "strip it down" to a cleaner look. That being the case, I'm going for a removable sissy bar, the removable bags, and eventually I'll likely get a detachable windshield. I just like the look of the bike with nothing on it, though it could well be that I start putting this other stuff on and decide that I like it better with the extras.
Just remember that the back of the bags have to be flat in order for the easy brackets to work. I have the bags from HD and the back of the bag is preformed to go around the shocks. I order bareback( they are for quick disconnect for the bags). I know I will have to do some modifaction and will let you know how they work out.

Yeah, I had read another thread in here where someone mentioned that the Harley bags don't work as well with the Easy Brackets because of what you mentioned. I like the rigid bags like those Harley has, but that does throw a monkey wrench into that. I guess it's for the best, though, since the Harley bags are also REALLY expensive.

I'm not quite sure I know what "bareback" is. Is that just a different disconnect system that works better with the formed back on the Harley bags?
I have Easy Brackets and while they're certainly easy enough to use they rattle like hell when your bags are not full.
I have been using Easy Brackets for over a year and mine have never rattled when empty. Are your lock mechanisms properly putting pressure on the mounts? I can't figure out why yours would rattle when empty...
I think I'm going to check with the Easy Bracket folks to see if they will work on the rigid leather covered saddlebags. I saved 150.00 by purchasing online so I guess I could use that to add some brackets - just not crazy about the saddlebag look on my 1200.
