Default 06 1200c oil pump problem

i have heard about alot of sporty riders having oil in the a/c. i got the problem at the 1000 mile service w/syn3. i read on the forum that this is common due to overfill. so i let it go for another 800 miles and cleaned the bike after each ride. today i took it to the dealer for some warranty chrome stuff and told them to take a look. turns out i need an oil pump. the pump is not returning oil to the tank fast enough, so they kept it until monday for factory ok for a replacement. i have asked that they use a 2007 pump due to the re design. since it is retrofittable i'm sure they know about the problem with the 06. the new pump scavenges over 23% more than the 06 version. also pumps about 15% more to the motor. they wouldn't make the improvements just for efi changes. i'm no wrench so this is just my opinion. i will change to mobil 1 the next time i change my own oil.

Talked to 3 different dealers now and they all say the same thing. The 07 Sporster "family" got the biggest overhaul of any line for this year. All kinds of stuff we won't hear about untill it comes up...like your oil pump.

I feel like I'm the girl with the other oil problem too. Did a good ride today and ended up at a dealer for thier Bar-b-que, they were having a free inspection thing going on and by that time I had oil again on the right side of the bike, it wasn't a lot but she said it was more than it should be. She said maybe it was a rocker box something or other, so I am taking it back to where the work was done initially. She also said the reason I was probably charged for 5 quarts of oil on my change was that going from the original oil to the syn 3 they may have used a quart to flush thru the system. They offered to take the bike in on a warranty write up but they would need the bike for 3 days, and even though they are closer to my house the other dealer will look at it right away since they haven't gotten it right yet. I'm still having that noise in the back that sounds rotational but if I'm still having oil blowing back there it hasn't ruled that out yet.
I'm gonna keep at it till I get it right.
Pauline
