Default HD Engine Guard

I have a 2008 Sportster XL1200R that I'm looking to get an engine guard for. Reason is primarily to mount pegs so I can stretch out on longer rides. Secondary benefit is to protect the bike. In general, I don't like the looks of engine guards, but compared to the Lindby engine guard, the HD engine guard (Part #49215-07) seems like the lesser of two evils. It comes in black, which would match my black frame and black powder coated engine. Lindby doesn't make a black MultiBar for the Sportster (not sure why).

However, it does not appear that you can mount foot pegs to this engine guard. I e-mailed Zanotti's and they confirmed the black Billet Engine Guard Footpeg Mounting Kit (Part #54234-10) is not compatible with the engine guard. In fact, every mounting kit I look at specifically says it is not compatible with that engine guard.

So my question is simply this: is this engine guard not meant to attach foot pegs to it? Does anyone out there have this engine guard with foot pegs? If so, please let me know the part numbers or where you got them.

Alternatively, does anyone know any other manufacturers that make black engine guards for the Sportster? I can't understand why Lindby doesn't offer a black MultiBar for the Sportster, when they offer a chrome version. May have to end up settling for that, but I really would prefer a black one.

Thanks in advance.

i ride my lindby all the time... yes its chrome, but so is my bike.
wonder if there is some way to remove the chrome and then paint it?
if i were you, i would contact lindby cause i agree with you that they are missing a market share that they could get. less expensive for them if they use paint instead of chrome.

Don't have the part number but I was at the moco shop tonight and saw a multi fit highway peg mounting kit for $39.95. I didn't have my cc with me to buy it as I just put on an engine guard on my 06.
