I want a clean stealthy look. I hate all these damn wires and harnesses on my bike. I'm going to take on the task of rewiring the whole bike and loose all these harnesses. I'm pretty crafty with tools, but should I just hand it over to a shop to do? I don't want to drill holes in the frame and internally wire the thing, but cleaner direct wires. Is this possible? Has anyone done a wire job on their Sporty?
I too hate wires so I ran my wires internally on my bars. I removed the emissions canister as well because I didn't like the hose running along side the gas tank. I removed my signals cuz they had wires attached to them. I removed my horn cuz it had a wire attached to it
You can remove the wiring harness and just solder all your wires to remove anything bulky. Remove anything that isn't necessary to the operation of your bike.
Or...you can see what "Cosmo" did to his bike on XLforum. He stripped his bike completely and ran ALL wires inside the frames. Nicest job I've seen. I don't have those skills so I wouldn't even attempt it, but he did an awesome job on it.
Some folks are running their handlebar wiring inside the bars.
I have my wires through my bars. It's all the other wires that run by the engine. It's really those bulky harnesses. I have three that bother me so much. I'll try to solder the wires together as Papadop88 suggested. Let's see what happened.
