These look awesome. I'd love to hearhow it goes if you decide to order them. The two things that I could see as potential problems are:

1. If you use this on an oil or brake line, is the mesh spaced out enough to let the leak drip through?

2. How do you secure the endpoints so that it doesn't look like an add-on. I see that they want you to burn the closed at the end, which makes sense, but if you don't secure each end, it might sag or separate.

I was looking at those too for the electrical wires....but do you have to undo or do they just slide over???

I would use these for electrical wires as I think it would clean up the black mess HD left us with. Don't think I would use them for brakelines, throttle, idle, clutch, etc. Even though it's more money, I'd go with the real steel braided cables. They are high quality and functional and will look nicer than these covers. And you still have to remove one end of each cable to install these. That means, you have to bleed the brakes, redjust the clutch, idle and throttle etc. For all that work, might as well as go with the real thing. Just my .02...

You took the words right out of my mouth...

However... maybe before I did the DWG mini apes on my bike I would have considered the mesh for my wiring... not now though... lol

OK,
I went online and found the cost to get stainless cables for the clutch, throttle along with the front and rear brakes. I have a 2006 1200C.
Here is what I found from JPCycles
Item # Desc Price
520-587 Throttle Cable Stainless (Std.) $41.99
520-492 Brake Cable Stainless (Std.) $53.99
242-275 Front Stainless Brake Cable $40.99
242-276 Rear Stainless Brake Cable $75.99
Total $212.96

Now, the chrome covers are $25 bucks. After reading some of the concerns, I think I will go for the new stainless cables. Because I dont want to slip on these chrome tubes then have to heat shrink all the ends, while having to disassmeble all the lines in the first place. Plus, I dont know how long they will stay chrome looking, if they are going to rust, I guess I dont feel confident with the quality. In Milwaukee, I have to maintain a good look, there are just too many critics...LOL.

So, I am thinking about the amount of work, and then end result. I am going with the stainless.

Dr. Cool....Very cool decision you made. You will be totally satisfied about how those steel braided cables look on your ride. Good luck with the installation.

Warrior.
That would be a winter project. If I spend any more money this year, my wife will leave me... second thought.
This winter here is what I am going to do.
1) Stage 1 - air cleaner - pipes - jets
2) cables - goto stainless
3) Brake module, so it flashes 3 times before going all the way red.
4) New Seat - Probably Mustang
5) Oil Tank Covers - But I am going to chop them up and make a design.
6) Belt guard - chrome.

That is it for this the winter projects.

Another advantage of going with braided stainless steel brake line cables is that they give you a more immediate positive feeling when you apply the brakes.

The braided lines won't 'swell' from brake fluid pressure like the stock lines.

OLDFENDERGUY

I never even considered that. Thanks, I learn a ton of stuff on this board. Do you have stainless on your clutch? How did that work out for you?
