I just ordered 11" 412's for the rear and the 11-1527 kit for the forks on my '10 883N.
Who here has installed this kit in a Nightster/48/Iron? Does it raise the front end? Any modifications with the install or does the kit just drop in? Should I have a bottle of fork oil on hand?
On my bike, they were drop in.
Read some recent threads, pictures and step by step instructions in some of them.
You can re use the oil if you catch it all, replace, or change the weight.
On my stock forks, just changing out the stock 5 weight to 15 weight bel ray fork oil did wonders, when I changed the springs I put in 10 weight oil.
My forks held something like 325 cc's I think, 325 came out, I put 330 back in.
I use a premix pitcher, used for mixing oil and gas for two strokes, one side has ratios, the other cc's, ounces, etc...
I wanted my bike to sit higher to get some ground clearance so I added spacers (washers) to remove most of the fork sag, pushed the forks down in the clamps, and got 1.5 inch longer rear shocks.
Since you are staying with very short shocks, which means very little wheel travel (and a poor ride), I would guess you are shorter....
Plan on changing the fork oil. The progressive springs take less oil than the stock springs. The springs will come with a chart to tell how much oil to use for your particular application.
