Default Lowering Nightster front end

Hi, I was wondering if anyony may be able to help me out on this. I have an 09 Nightster and I am trying to figure out the length of the outter fork tubes. I know that stock are 24 1/4" and the low and xln use different sliders than stock making the forks shorter. I am guessing they are 1" shorter.

Reason I ask is because I bought a progressive fork lowering kit, but I also found a company Custom eng. who make 2" under 39mm fork tubes that will fit my bike. So Which route should I take, lowering kit will only lower 1" because I think stock is 1" lower and tubes will lower the same but maybe give a lower look?

Also thinking of doing both and having 4" under stock. My rear already has Progressive vintage 812 11" shocks with a 1" lowering block.

Cheers!

You want to lower a Nightster? Don't want to go around corners much?

Well keep in mind that you don't want the front end any lower than the rear end if you want it to handle good-like no more than .25 inch. The N already has the HD 1" lower front springs in it so a 1" lower spring might keep you you stock looking unless it's 1" lower than the N springs. You could always save some cash and slide the forks up in the trees 1" or so and that will give you a nice low look. Like was said when you go that low you will have no lean angle at all.

Doesn't the Nightster already have only like 5 inches of ground clearance. If so you're flirting with danger bdragon, unless this is a show only bike

Actually, the Nightster/Iron and 883 Low have only 3.9 inches of ground clearance. And that's before you put gas in it and climb on.

Lowering it will just mean that you will have an okay bike that can go in straight lines.

Actually I have already droped the trees or rather raised the forks up an inch. My bike is extremley low already with 11" shocks w/ 1" lowering block in the back and the 1" drop with the forks raised. It really looks tacky though. I actually bought the lowering kit, which will still have the same ground clearance as it does now but without the forks sticking up. As for cornering and handling, it rides better than stock. Of course on every left turn I get low to where my kickstand scraps all the time and over speed bumps I have to pretty much walk the bike over because the frame hits HAHA. But other than that @100mph here on LA freeways, its a champ. Thanks for the input though. I shall post pics up when I get it finished.

I am not saying it's the safest but to each their own. I prefer a slammed bike and it don't expect it to handle like a crotch rocket.

Cheers everyone!
