Ok after months of back order I finaly got the 48 speedo bracket and now have it installed. Had a buddy CNC the thing and still had do do a little dremel work before it fit. Next I will mount my stock hub to my new 16"x3" rim and install a 120x16 front tire and this winter will be a mid-glide front end conversion
Here is a shot of how much had to be ground for it to fit
Here it is on the bike
Here are a few shots of the bike before this summer
Before I started any of the latest mods
After the seat, rear fender ECM relocation and headlight
Awesome look! It's down just enough to totally change the lines across the bars on the front end of the bike. I love it on mine, wish I had taken more pics during the process, nice job!
Looks sweet.
What is it about the 48 speedo bracket/handlebar clamp that it needs to be machined?
The risers on the stock xl are flared out at the ends in somewhat of an L shape and the 48 clamp/speedo bracket is made to slip over the 48 risers and they are n ot the same shape so you either have to carve out material so the risers will slip over the non 48 risers or machine the risers to fit into the bracket. leave it to HD why in the world would they keep a common fit so you could just buy the clapo and bolt it on

I think it was intentional to keep guys like us from having a very simple mod while also trying to maintain the integrity and look of the new 48. They did the same thing with the front turn signals on that bike.
Scuba--here's a bird's eye of mine. Keep in mind I have 3.5" risers to cover the clearance needed for the stock headlight/h. hood, while fd2blk has changed out the headlight/hood and connection and the speedo mount can and does sit much lower.
