I'm surprised he agreed to selling it back. Did you have to cry on his front doorstep? LOL. Well, I'm glad you got what you wanted and hopefully your mind is made up. If you have the resources, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get the Nightrod and keep the Sportster. Two are always better than one
I've been entertaining the thought of selling my XLC1200 and getting a FXSTC Softail Custom...
Then somebody with a Dyna or a Classic comes up and tells me I've got one of the best looking Sportsters they've ever seen, makes me want to reconsider....

Thing is... my legs are just too dang long...
What to do... what to do...

I wouldn't sell a bike just because of the forward controls not being in the correct position...
If nothing else just go to a custom shop and have some forward control extensions fabricated to your specifications. Wouldn't be that big of a project.
I've thought about having some extensions made, but I'm starting to like the controls in their current position.
Right now I can extend my legs straight out and lay my ankles on the top of them and it's very comfortable....

I hear you... and after all the bucks I've already spent on this puppy to think I'd have to start all over again... makes me think about it...
I might be able to get a couple more inches, but I don't know if that would be enough...
I've always had some sort of fascination with the V-rod. I'm renting a Night Rod next week during my vacation to Florida. I'm sure I'll like it, but the Sporty has a personality that I'll never be able to part with.
Kinda like women - I'd love the opportunity to take another for a ride, but don't want to leave my wife. The good thing is, I can take the V-Rod out next week, and my Sporty will still be sitting there waiting for me even if she finds out about it.
Nothing wrong with changing your mind about the sporty, its a womens perogative..............lol
Just kidding
I wish my 97 1200C was a little longer too but I figure one day I will get the extended forward controls and hopefully I can stretch out a little more.
Hey XL OCD hope we have nice weather for you here in Florida next week when you come down for vacation.I think the storm should be well gone by then.
I'm planning on getting another bike in the Spring (leaning toward a RoadKing, but that changes frequently) I really hope I can keep my little pig...love her around town, and on rides less than 200 miles. Just need something a bit more for my long distance travels.

I'm planning on the weather being good. But hey, if it rains - oh well... it's a rental. I lived in North Cape Coral when Charley hit - I've had my fill of Hurricanes. Now Florida is a GREAT place to visit.
