I have noticed that on back has been killing me lately when I go for longer rides on my sporty. I was bumming around at a couple of the local dealers today, and one guy made a good point.... maybe the forward controls on my custom is putting too much stress on my lower back. So the strange request.
Does anyone have a set of orginal mid-controls, for a soild mount sporty that they would let go cheap, so I can see if it does my back any good? Thanks.
My back was killing me on my Sporty and it was the bars. My hubby put on the HD Pullback handlebars which brought the bars back a few inches and put me in a more natural riding position. It made a world of difference.
I have changed the bars and it did make a big difference, a pull back riser might help as well, but I do wanna try a set of mids.

Unless you are set on keeping the drag bars, I'd suggest either installing buckhorn bars or risers. You are leaning forward to ride and that strains your lower back. I don't think mid controls will make that much difference.
I have the same back problems. I changed the drag bars out the second day of ownership to Dyna Longhorns. It didn't help much, but did help some. I then swapped out the forward controls for mid controls and that really helped the lower back problem. I finally found the ultimate solution to riding with a bad back is a very good back rest. .............. BC
