Congrats on the bike! I just got my 1200L the end of May after having a Suzuki Intruder 800 for a couple of years prior to that. The Sporty is a ton of fun...especially riding the mountain twisties here. But, these guys are lying to you. You WILL want to get off of it...that is until you get something other than that stock block of a seat. (Or unless you have no nerve endings in your butt.) THEN you won't want to get off of it. I recommend seat shopping ASAP...and don't get a Badlander. It isn't much better than stock. I finally got a Mustang...and all is well! The other thing too is going over bumps. It is a bit rougher due to the short shocks. I've learned to get up off of that saddle and on to the pegs when I see a bump coming. Outside of bumps...it has a great ride.
I am consistently getting 55 MPG combined in town and highway. It didn't change one way or another when I put the aftermarket pipes on.
