After spending 3 hours washing and waxing my bike yesterday, I've come to the conclusion that I really don't like the front spoke wheel on my 1200 Custom. LOL. Took a white shoelace and waxed each individual spoke on the wheel. Not fun in 95 degree weather. LOL. Anyway, what's a good replacement wheel and where can I locate such a thing for the right amount of green?
I just bought a set of 13 spokes that were used 2500 miles for $125. I have been cleaning them up and will get the old bearings out of them soon. I talked to the powder coaters and will be getting them done extreme chrome. Keep checking CL and E bay.
If you're thinking about changing the wheel, consider switching to a 19" at the same time. Not only will the bike handle much better with a 100mm tire, but you'll likely get about 3 times more mileage from the fatter tire.
I went from getting about 7,500 miles on the skinny 21", to 25,000+ miles with the 19" wheel and tire.
I converted using a 19" HD Thunderstar wheel I picked up on E-bay for $175.00.
