Straight Pipes?
Are V&H Short Shots considered true straight pipes or a straight-like pipes? Doing research for my upcoming court date. Also... does anyone know the approx Db of these pipes + HD stage 1 on a nighster?

They are straight pipes with flow through baffles. The laws definition of a straight pipe is anything they can stick a probe up and never hit anything before the pipe bends. If you had the stock mufflers or the SE street legal mufflers you can see the baffle does not allow for exhaust to travel straight through and thus the probe would be stopped shortly after entering the muffler.

And the standard baffles in the V&H are strictly in there as a performance booster they do not do anything for decreasing the volume that is what their quiet baffles are for. If you had the quiet baffles in then the pipes would not be straight pipes. The quiet baffle would not allow a probe to go very far.
