Default Need help!!

I recently took the baffels out off my screamin eagle II's. i have a 06 Sporty XL Custom. I installed torque cones. I LOVE THE way it sounds but i have this crazy "popping" on decel. can anyone tell me what i can do to get rid of or lessen the popping. its more like a backfire kinda thing.. it sounded good for a while but now its getting annoying a little bit.... thanks for your help!!! Appreciate ALL the feed back i can get!!!! and the baffles are no longer able to be put back in. they were first cut in half.........then down to about one inch...then i just took em out...

i did have the carb jetted after i installed the screamin eagle intake..(before removal of baffles).if that helps

Torque cones help but are not a black & white replacement for baffles. It sounds like you need more fuel still.

You must not completely understand "jetting". When there is a change in how much air is flowing in or out of the motor then the carburator needs to be adjusted to equal out the air to fuel ratio. If you increase air flow then you need to increase fuel. Decrease air flow, decrease fuel...you can also alter the point of delivery but that is neither here nor there in your current situation.

Your carb is set up a certain way from the factory and can be tweaked a small amount but once your airflow is to a point where the current carb cannot match it then you need to change out parts of the carb to open up a whole new level of adjustment.

You have obviously increased the airflow so you need to increase the fuel. Just take it to where you had it jetted already, tell them what you've done and they should know what to do from there.

It's atleast worth a shot to give them a call. I'm all for trying to do it yourself but if you're not completely aware of what you're doing then it could end up costing you more in the long run.

It sounds like it just needs a little more fuel. If they charge by the hour then it can't cost very much at all...I mean, it won't take very long.

The decel popping is caused by lean condition with the primary (sometimes called the slow) jet. Since it was re-jetted once, we don't know what jet you have in now.
If you go up one or two larger primary jets it should cure the problem of decel popping. Keep in mind that if you are running lean on the primary, chances are that you are running lean on the main also.
Thats why mreed is suggesting taking it in to have it done professionally. It's not to say that it can't be done by you. If you know how to read plug color it really isn't a difficult fix.

Hope this helps.

You could try this tuning procedure first at no cost and see if it helps... http://www.harley-performance.com/ha...arburetor.html
