Im not sure if this has been adressed before but if so my apologies. I have been looking into changing the gearing in my bike and was wondering if anyone has tried out the 30tooth transmission pulley and how much did it improve highway riding?
I just did the 30 tooth swap on my 06. It was the prefect swap I.M.O.
Most of my riding is on country roads and I don't do much riding on the HWY, so 65 is about the fastest I ride. RPMs are 3000 @ 65 and the bike is smooth as silk. It is still plenty quick off the line as I have the 1200 kit also. I'm super happy getting 55 mpg (and I'm all about twisting the throttle) again mostly on country roads.
It'll cost you about $63 (unless you wait for a 20% off sale like I did) for the pully, $110 for the speedo recal unit and $15 for the big honkin 1 7/8 socket to get the pully off.
here's a link to everything you would need to know about the swap- provided by XLCR4GM
