The rear end of my XL got jacked up during my trip to Biltwell 500 and ever since then I've been busy making some much needed changes that I've been too lazy to make to the bike. At first the fender was mounted onto the swing arm but all the movements and vibrations prevented it from holding on properly. I'm glad that didn't work out because I love the setup I have now. I downloaded an camera app so I wanted to test it out so here it is. My camera was decommissioned in Mexico so this is all I have for now so bear with me.
-Metzeler ME880 (will not be running white wall in the front, only in the rear)
-Biltwell Tracker bar chopped 5" total, scotch-brited
-Biltwell slimline riser, scotch-brited (got rid of the dummy lights)
-Tossed fork gaiters
-Stripped black off of rocker box covers and derby cover (got tired of all the black, still need more stripping)
-Chopped 1" off of pegs
-New fender left bare metal
-V&H Short Shots chopped. Also got bored of the exhaust and not a big fan of the sound so I got some exhaust parts from Cone Engineering and used a muffler my friend had laying around. Chopped the end of the muffler at an angle so that it is perpendicular to the ground when mounted, also keeps the rain out. I finally broke down and got the Power Commander V and with the 2-1 the bike screams. I now don't need to up-shift to 5th gear on the interstate unless I hit around 90-95 mph
-Removed the plastic wire housing behind the rear rocker, looks a lot cleaner and now all the plastic has been removed
-Chopped Cam cover
-Progressive 412's
1st, 2nd, 3rd pics: Messed up in Mexico. Best thing that happened to the bike. Got me to get off of my *** and start making more changes.
4th & 5th pics: Here's the first set-up of fender and sissy bar.
New setup with performance and face lift. Very happy with the outcome
Next mods will be mounting the rear of the gas tank directly onto the frame to get rid of that big neck of a stock tank mount which will also bring down the seat by mounting the bracket directly on to the frame to get rid of the huge gap I currently have. I will also toss the speedo after getting used to how the bike feels at different speeds. There are tons of other things that will be done but the next mod is installing Tokico brakes in the front and rear. Already got it repainted and installed new pads, a friend is working on the mount and also a stainless fork brace. This is the Air Cleaner that will be installed soon, made by the same friend. A lot smaller and way sexier than the current S&S setup. For me the best part of it is that it's not black.
Looks good. I like the style of the new air cleaner, I wouldve made it with a bigger filter but that's me. I like the exhaust mod too. I've been tossing around the same idea with my shortshots as well
