Default Forward Controls...

Just wondering how much forward controls will help me out. I am a tall guy (6'2") riding a 883 Sportster. My knees are up high now, will forward controls really make a big difference? Especially for the price of them? Also, how difficult are they to put on?

Thanks,
Duse

You will smack yourself for not getting them sooner. Unless you are a sportbike guy, the mid controls are sheer torture for a cruiser rider. The forward controls not only let you stretch your legs a little bit, the allow you to extend your legs by resting your heels on the pegs... two-fer!

I thought about putting forward controls on my '75 XLCH but I don't think it will work on mine. I have a right side shift and rear disk brakes.

Thanks for the replies. Is there any brand that you would offer? I know you can get cheaper ones, but just wondering if they are as nice as the more expensive ones.

DWSPhotography,

Did you pick them up from the HD shop or online somewhere? Sorry, I just bought my bike and it's my first bike so I don't have much knowledge yet.

I got them at the dealer.... same price everywhere as far as I know. There are companies that make them other than HD, but I don't know what the prices are like.

check out ebay. they sell factory style fowards for as low as $175.00. or you can just get some highway pegs to mount up front and you will only have to keep your feet on the mids during shifting and braking. but it may be better for you to get the fowards being your so tall. i had fowards and i went to mids on my 1200C because i am short and was able to reach them but just barely and i also like that mids give you more control over the bike and your feet are closer to wear you would keep them on the ground when you stop so i don't have to move my feet as far and can get them on the floor faster if needed.

Stay away from those ebay 'factory style' forward controls. Go ahead and bite the bullet and get some HD forwards. Chicago HD has a 20% everyday discount. But, a local dealer may make you a better deal if you pay them to install them.

If you get cheapo forward controls, thats what you get...cheap!

Thanks for the input. It really helps out considering it's my first bike and trying to get it to fit "me" and not the short guy that I bought it from.
