There are some HD shops that offer 20% discounts for online orders. Chicago Harley is one of them, but there are others. I installed forward controls on my '97 883 and it was not a problem. I find the stuff on ebay to be inferior, but that is just my experience.
Mike,
Do you have a website for the HD shop in Chicago? I am not sure if you are familiar with the Chicago area, but is the shop close to Naperville, ILL? I have some relatives there that may be able to pick up the items if I order them online... Not sure, but just an idea.

Here is the website : http://www.chicagoharley.com/ I am not familiar with the Chicago area at all. I was born and raised in beautiful Upstate NY.
Not sure if they will let you pick it up. If you live in PA you will have to pay tax. I believe that Van's in Gloversville NY has a 15% discount for web orders: http://www.vanshd.com/
If this is your first Sportster, I highly recommend that you pick up the book: The Sportster Performance Handbook by Buzz Buzzelli. It has a great wealth of info.
email chicago harley. for a while they offered the 20% without mentioning it because the corporate section of harley found out and didn't like that they were doing that so they tried to make them stop it so they stopped advertizing but would give the discount if you ordered it. so email them and see what they say. maybee they're still doing it.
