Default Custom cup holder

Hey guys, I've been working on a little project for my bike on some down time at work. I've always wanted to get a cup holder to carry a bottle of water or some gatorade, so I looked around for some but none of them really caught my attention, so I decided to make one.

With the help of some of the guys at work, this is the end result:

It was pretty easy to make, and I like the way it came out. I wanted to put a design on it, but not a decal or sticker, so I ended up tracing out the harley skull (I wanted to get the words "harley davidson motorcycles" too but it was too small detail) in masking tape and sticking it on and spraying a black stain around it so that the skull image was still the sanded aluminum look. After a few coats of urethane and some drying time it was all done. Two shaft collars were attached to it so it could clamp right on my highway bars, and its just the right size and placement so it doesn't interfere with the blinker when the bars are at full lock nor my foot when shifting.

I tested it out the other day on a 50 mile ride to Jones Beach for an STP concert and it worked really good:

Cool! I've wanted a cup holder on mine, but don't think I can find a place to put it that doesn't look weird.

Wal Mart, bicycle section. Will not hold smaller water bottles though unless you wrap it with an insulating wrap

Turns out after trying a few different bottles (still have to experiment with some sort of rubber lining to help stop vibrations and jumping around) that Snapple bottles like to tear up the urethane coating. I had a Snapple bottle in there on the way to work and when I got there there was a ring inside I figured was water from the bottle but turns out its on the surface, I'm guessing the weight of the bottle combined with the surface of the bottom of the bottle ate into it, I'll see if I can sand it out.

Man that is awesome, I'd love to have something like that to mount to the engine guard. Nice work.
