My Cycle Shacks have over 7K on them. I have never used anything but Windex with Ammonia to clean them. They look and sound great!................... BC
Well, the Mother's that I used is Mag and Alumium Polish. Aren't alot of the Mag wheels chromed? I re-read the label and it says nothing about not using it on chrome. In fact in says it will not scratch metal surfaces...and I never had it harm the chrome int he past.
I am having a hard time capturing the problem clearly with my little digital camera, so I'll wait until this weekend when we are out riding and I can get a friend to take a really good pic with their camera.
basiclly polish is an abrasive for metels like aluminum and brass not chrome plating which is not a peice of billet or cast metel. use wax.
chrome scratchs pritty easy with an abrasive polish.

I think they mean "mag" as in MAGnesium the metal not the wheels. It says on the back of the jar at the bottom of the directions "Not reccomended for gold plating, chrome, anodized, painted or coated metals".
I agree with using windex with amonia on a regular basis and keeping a coat of wax on them for protection. If you need something to bring back really stained chrome try Simichrome or Met-all chrome polish.
Well I have 4,100 miles on my CS and the only marks are from were Dawn steps on the pipe and I have to scrub the rubber meltagewith aSOS pad but really no problems & they are tiny little scratches you see if your up close looking.. The reason I got the marks there is I used a F'd up cheap padScott had at his house one day and Dawn had alot of boot on my pipe
So far, I havehad good luck with my set of Cycle Shacks.
However, I only have about2000 miles(1 month) on them.
As far as cleaning..............Ihave only been using automotive soap & water to clean the bike & I dry it with cotton towels. All of the chrome still looks brand new (after about 3200 miles (2 months)).
I haven't seen the need to use any type of chrome polish. Am I missing out or being lazy?
