Default Security "option"?

Did anyone happen to get security on their Sportster out the door? I saw it on the sticker (2011 883 Superlow), and my loan app and all took until after closing. By the time I was looking over the bike outside with the salesman, I saw there was no key fob, salesman said (after I already brought it up... he didn't mention it until I did) that there was a problem with the VIN and the security didn't come with the bike, the sticker was wrong.

I held firm and told him I wanted the security, he said he would talk to his boss today. So today he calls back and says they never put security on their 883's and offered me a $200 gift card (Security list price is $370). The way I see it, they're getting out of putting on a security system (key fob) for what amounts to less than $100 their cost.

Has anyone else had issues like this? People here at work are suggesting I return the bike if they won't put on the system. I think that's going a little far, but I hate being lied to and scammed (they made plenty of money off of me). What would you guys recommend?

During my research intothe Sportster line it was my understanding that the security system is not a standard option.

However, when I purchased mine down here from my dealer in Palm Bay, I made sure they understood that I wanted the security system installed and in the paperwork before I signed. I'm not sure what your options are after completing a transaction, but I would keep working with the dealer to see what you can work out. Maybe a free service and gift card, something around those lines.

Good Luck!

I wouldn't get the security. It's not like the fob has a button to unlock the door.
You didn't pay for the security did you? There was just a sticker on the bike advertising it had it?
If you didn't pay for it I would take the gift card.
If you really want the security, I would stand firm, I'm sure they will make it right.

Both my fob's recently went dead, the one I use went dead so I went to get the spare and it was dead too. Took me a while to get the bike to let me enter the code (luckily I remembered what I set) and was only 5 min late to work that morning.

Big reason I went with the security system was for the insurance discount it provided me......plus I really didn't pay anything extra for it, since they through it in with the bike price!

If you and the dealer signed a contract saying the bike has security, then I would expect it to be on there. If they or you don't want to put it on, then the should be refunded the list price for it.

Yeah that!! Look over your paperwork, If you have the paperwork stating that security is to be installed on the bike then I don't see how they could back out of it!

Thanks for the tips, I'll check the paperwork. Figure out what to do from there.

Apparently I read the tag wrong. Went to the dealer and looked at the sticker, it was not what I thought. They still gave me a $200 gift card, said the tag was confusing and it should have been explained better.

That was nice of them,I'd use that voucher as part payment to get the ALARM/security,it's a great feature ,it can be a little annoying if you move the bike and you don't have the fob nearby,the... fob battery needs to be replaced every two years, the little battery costs a couple of bucks... buy a spare and tape it to the bottom of the seat tucked into the helmet padding.

Had the security system on my last bike and its nice I guess but if someone wants it then they will still take it. I would rather have the 200 card.
