I went out last night to enjoy one of (what will most likely be) my final rides of the 2010 season. It was a gorgeous 70 degree day here in Indy. Not to many of those left.
Anyway....I went to check the air pressure in my tires before the ride since it had been two weeks since I was on the bike. It turned into a WTF moment.
When I pulled the valve caps off, I noticed rubber nearly busting out of the valve. Not only that, but I could not check the pressure or add new air because of the rubber blocking the valve.
See the pic below. Anyone know what is up with this?
Had the same issue and it was the rubber gasket from inside the valve cap.
I agree. I'm sure that's what it is. ( same thing happened to me ) looked exactly the same.
hopefully he'll read this post or figure it out on his own before the dealer convinces him he needs a new tire...wheel or maybe even a new bike to fix the problem.
Had the same thing happen on wifes sporty. Did pre ride check on a fri. evening-sat. morning flat tire. Seems the crome valve caps has a loose o-ring for a seal. The o-ring will twist and can depress valve core. Took off the crome caps and put on 25 cent elcheapo caps--no more problems.
Thanks for all the help. I kinda thought that might be the issue. However, I wanted to make sure before I got in there with some needle nose pliers to yank it out.
Luckily, despite the minor issue, I did get out to ride that day and am going out today again. Got to take advantage of ANOTHER 70 degree day in Indy in November.
