OK, maybe I should have also added....and others think:

If the stock bike had a swingarm, the bobber still does. If you cut off the back of the frame (chopping it), and replace it with a hardtail section, you have built a "chopper." This also holds true if you chop the backbone or downtube to add rise or length to the frame. This is how they got their names. Bobbed rear fender, stock style suspension and stock frame: bobber. Chopped frame: chopper.
As I stated in my post, it's all about how you define a "bobber". Because a bobber isn't a set in stone idea, many people have many differing ideas of what a bobber is, and what it should be.
Here is a definition that also mentions removal of shocks.

Definition: A bobber-style motorcycle is a post World War II motorcycle typified by modifications in which non-essential body parts are removed, or "bobbed." Chopped fenders and rigid tails are other bobber traits, as are a general lack of chrome, unlike their chopper counterparts.
Many bobbers were lowered as much as possible to get that low-slung look. Removing shocks was the easiest/cheapest way to achieve that. And easy and cheap were were the mainstays of a bobber.

A bobber can have shocks, or it may have them replaced with struts or hardtail. A bobber can be almost anything you want. But, minimalist is the key word when building a bobber.....at least in my definition. And most will agree with that.

I removed my stock seat and fabbed up a pan seat....the ol lady sits on the fender. placed skateboard grip tape on there for her. When we go on all day rides (400+) I put a pee pad for her...its nothing like my Gixxer but we have a good time.
