What did you do to that beautiful bike you should've left the peanut tank that's what makes a 48 a 48
agreed. To each his own, but you bought a bike who's entire character lies in the peanut tank and drag bars, and then you changed them? Basically, now you have a 1200 sportster custom with a balloon front tire.
I guess that was cheaper than buying a 1200 custom and chopping the rear fender and changing the front end, so it makes sense from that perspective.
that's what's cool though, everyone has their own thing.
Well, the 48 is more than just that, the front end is really tough looking and the engine cases look great all blacked out... some of the reasons why Tiff and I were considering the 48 over even the Nightster, which came with the peanut tank as well. Personally I love the classic lines of the 48, and while the peanut tank is a part of that, it is not all of it. I have to admit, I am not a fan of the peanuts personally, but on the Sportster line (especially the N and X) it really works! I would not think of changing to a regular Sportster tank, and if the capacity were an issue and I had a 48, I would do the Nightster swap out. But again, to each his own and the important thing is that the OP likes it. I think it is funny when people get defensive of others talking smack about the Sportster, and yet the first thing that they do is talk smack about another brother or sister's bike. Just my opinion, but then again what do I know?... I eat paint chips.
