Hey, I'm new to this site and have a question for those of you who hold the wisdom... I have a 2011 XL1200N with some basic mods: screamin eagle breather, stage I EFI, V&H shorts - just recently pulled the baffles and replaced with BCT Monsters. I have a ton of backfire when letting off of the throttle. This occurred before I switched baffles as well. It is almost beyond ridiculous. Anything I can do to fix this? Should I be concerned about it?
Forgive me, I do not think that I have a FuelPak. I'm pretty sure its a DynoJet PC V. I will post a video. It is about two months old, before the new baffles and isnt that great, but hopefully it will suffice.
Although I do not consider myself to hold the wisdom here is my 02 cents.Yes you should be concerned and yes you can fix it.I would check for exhaust leaks first. This is a major cause of back firing on decel.Did you change the crush gaskets when you changed the exhaust?Even if this helps. You should really be running a decent fuel tuner especially with the heavy breather.A simple stage 1 download is not enough for your set up.Good Luck
Malingerer - the HD shop did all of the work, minus the exchange of the baffles. But like I said, the barking was there before they were switched out. I have been in for my 1000mi service and mentioned it to them and the service mgr said it was because of the short pipes.
You need to give us a little more info on exactly what you have .A stg1 download,Fuel Pak,PC V.Master Tune. How did the install on all your parts etc.Did you change crush gaskets when installing the short shots etc.

Ok knowing this I would only have to assume that they used new crush gaskets and installed the pipes, and parts correctly. If no exhaust leak I am going to go out on a limb and say they sold you a stage 1 down load and that is most likley your problem. It simply is not sufficent enough for the heavy breather and pipes. Can you check and see what fuel tuner etc you have.Seems like you are deff running lean. The service manager is full of ****, "because of the short pipes "freakin numbskull.
Hmmm, you are asking about stuff that I am not very knowledgeable about. Let's see...
When I purchased the bike, before I picked it up, I had them install V&H ShortShots Staggered, ScreaminEagle Breather, and a "Stage I EFI Kit". That is what I know.
I am not familiar with a "stage 1 download", I am assuming it has to do with the DynoJet PCV. But they ensured that it was programmed properly.
I do not know what you are talking about with changing crush gaskets. This is my first bike and I am learning something new every day, so I appreciate your help.
