Has anyone ever use the large fairing windshield. I found this one on e-bay (300486265428) Do they hold up to the wind with the mounts. Thanks for the advice.
Link is inactive in your post, FYI. From what I understand (I have been researching windshields and will get a National Cycle Heavy Duty when I have the money), most windshields are pretty solid in the wind until you get to very tall heights. It's all about proper braces built into the windshield and brackets, which any reputable brand will have.
Something I have noticed, many people complain about the large windshields if they are fork mounted. They tend to deflect/catch so much wind that it can mess with the steering. So in my own opinion, I would not go with a fork mounted large fairing windshield. Stick to the compact style ones like the stock Heritage Classic one.
Sorry I can't help ya with that one. I went thru the same thing trying to find a windshield for my bike. I just ended up getting the quick detach Harley one cause I only use it when I'm taking long rides and it's so much easier to pop on and off with nothing left behind on the bike. Got mine in new condition off ebay for $190 shipped. Took a few weeks to score a good deal though.
That just pulls up a virus warning for me.
Anywho, the one that came with ours has four billet metal clamps that securely hold it to the forks. It ain't going anywhere. I was considering selling it, dunno.
Seems to me that windshield would reflect some of your turn signals back to where it would be disturbing for the rider. If it were me, I'd go with the HD removable shield, it does a good job of reducing the wind pressure on the rider. Being removable, it makes it easier to clean the bike too.
Had this windshield on my 82 gold wing before i got rid of it...worked great blocked wind off the face, chest, hands and legs...don't think I'd put it on a sportster though...too big and ugly.
Didn't even like the quick detach on my sportster - maybee for longer trips if thats what you want...
I'm kinda enjoying the wind in the face thing of late...second childhood or mid-life(past mid-life) crisis - not sure which one yet...did 2800 miles in 8 days last fall with just the flyscreen...
