Iron is FLAT and slow. 48 is FAT and FAST. You pick.
I dont see how the bike is slow, I have no problem getting it in 5th gear in just a few seconds and it tops out at about 110. Im not sure what is fast for you but if that is not fast enough you need a different bike.
Finally bit the bullet price shopped the 5 closest dealers for otd cash price and got it for $8993.59 . Was $1500.00 less than any other dealer in Southern California
I would never pay $13k for a sportster! I would recommend you find a slightly used one off Craigslist and do a dealer assist through Harley if you need to finance it. Many people are always looking to upgrade or get out of their loan. Our HD would have allowed us to add on any MOD's at time of purchase onto the loan if we wanted anything. Dealer Assist usually costs about $500. This also works if you find someone who has a loan w/HD and is trying to sell their bike.
We paid $12k for an '07 FATBOY (2500 mi) last April....there are deals, but you need to be patient and definitely figure out what you want! (not sure where you live)...I drove 3 hours away to pick up my nightster - because it was a good deal! We wanted to pay cash, but ended up with the HD assist b/c we didn't want to pay off the seller's loan and then wait for the seller to sign over the title/transfer etc....was just the peace of mind.
I like the Iron because it's black...but I love my nightster! At least with the Iron there's always the conversion available. If you decide on a used bike, you can tell how hard they've been ridden or what condition they're in.
BTW, Dealers aren't willing to budge much cause they're closing a lot of the smaller dealerships which makes for less competition. Either way......good luck to you and your decision!
