Just purchased the Flanders #1 handlebar for my 48. The difference in cable length compared to the stock handlebar seems to be 7 to 7,5 inches, so i don't think the stock cables will be long enough. Will appreciate any ideas on the cable extension kit i could use for this installation.
burly makes 12" or longer cable extensions but are expensive. I put 10" Z bars and only had to put a new brake line on.If you need to do your brake cable, buy a "build your own" kit. I got a steal braided kit that you just cut to fit and put the banjo fittings on for $55. Company called Magnum. Got it from my local HD dealership.

Thanks for the tip, I've checked with Magnum site and they seem to have all the cables available. I would prefer to buy the full set of what might be needed just to be on the safe side, since shipping takes at least 3 weeks. Can you advise which cables i might need: brake, clutch and idle, or something else?
It all depends on how tall your bars are. I re-used my stock throttle and clutch cables. I just took off a couple of the cable ties and moved them up closer under the gas tank and had enough wiggle room for turning. The only cable I replaced was my brake line. I ordered a 6ft lenghth with 90 degree fittings. Cut it to 37 inches and everything fit great.
I put 12" mini apes on my 48 and I replaced the clutch cable and the brake line, I also just cut a few tie wraps and was able to keep the stock throttle cables. The dealer sells an extension kit for the control wires, it was only like $35 I think and you get to keep the same color coded wires. A few butt connectors and your golden.

what year is your 48? Im buying a 2010 and have heard that the wire harness extension is different.
